**I received a copy of the book through NetGalley. I voluntarily read and reviewed it. All opinions are my own.**

Wren decides to seize the day after overhearing teasing about a guy, Asher, being potentially catfished. Deciding she would be unable to bear the secondhand embarrassment, she pretends to be the girl Asher is supposed to meet. She intends to tell him afterwards that she isn’t who he thinks but begins to prolong her confession when she discovers how amazing he is.

I enjoy YA romances as much as adult ones, and Kasie West is one of my favorite YA contemporary romance authors. Borrow My Heart had everything I was looking for including those I was not expecting. Wren is a often grumpy, sarcastic MC with a good heart. When she decides to be Gemma, it’s easy to tell she means no ill intent. Asher, despite his more carefree and upbeat personality, understands her more than she realizes. Their banter, which often dripped with teasing and sarcasm, is one of my favorite aspects of the book.

While mostly a lighthearted novel in its take on meeting people/dating in the age of social media, Wren’s character is given depth that does not feel forced. There’s a valid reason why Wren likes to maintain control and dislikes spontaneity, and it is revealed seamlessly as the story moves forward.

I had suspicions about where the book was going, and I still enjoyed it nonetheless. I wanted to cuddle with it and squee after I finished. Because of Kasie West, I’m currently on a YA contemporary romance binge. Fans of the grumpy/sunshine trope and fake dating will enjoy this one.
