In The Mood for Love: 5 Romance Novels To Read

For the past two years, my life has been consumed by romance novels. It’s been wonderful being able to fall in love every single day. Here are five books that allowed me to do just that.

This book has set the bar for all audiobooks with an ensemble cast that features Zachary Webber and Emily Woo Zeller. I enjoyed the book but the audible book elevated it to something wonderful. If you opt to read the book with your eyes instead of your ears, please, I implore you, find some way to listen to Chapter 29.

Attachment Theory
by Kayley Loring
Publication: October 7, 2021
Series: The Brodie Brothers #2

Dear Mr. Brodie,

I hope this email finds you well.
Your well-being and personal growth are of the utmost importance to me, as a therapist.
As such, I have decided it is in your best interest to continue individual therapy with another practitioner.
This is due to the potential for boundaries being crossed between us.
Attached is a list of colleagues I would recommend for you.

Scarlett Shepard, MS, MFT

Dear Scarlett,

Consider our sessions terminated.
Now I can tell you how beautiful you are and how attracted I am to you.
Let’s start crossing boundaries over dinner tonight.
You’ll say it would be unethical, and I’ll point out that we’ve only had a few sessions.
You’ll cite the age difference, and I’ll tell you how hot it is that you’re six years older than me.
You’ll say you’re a mom, and I’ll remind you that I think your son is awesome.
We don’t have to discuss my former attachments to former co-stars ever again.
This is due to the fact that clearly my only personality issue is that I’m irresistible.

Yours in well-being and personal growth,
Dylan Brodie, W.M.H.T.A.T.Y.E.H. (Way More Handsome and Talented Actor Than Your Ex-Husband)  (Goodreads)

This is a slow burn romance with POC representation. Read this if you want to read about a man who has an unquestionable belief in a woman who has always been told to be someone other than herself, urging her to do what men before her have been unable to do. What could be sexier?

Have you ever wondered what life might be like if you had to move back home? Would the people there still be the same? Would the hot bad boy everyone crushed on still be hot? Rock Bottom Girl
by Lucy Score
Publication: March 6, 2019

Downsized, broke, and dumped, 38-year-old Marley sneaks home to her childhood bedroom in the town she couldn’t wait to escape twenty years ago. Not much has changed in Culpepper. The cool kids are still cool. Now they just own car dealerships and live in McMansions next door. Oh, and the whole town is still talking about that Homecoming she ruined her senior year.

Desperate for a new start, Marley accepts a temporary teaching position. Can the girl banned from all future Culpepper High Homecomings keep the losing-est girls soccer team in school history from killing each other and prevent carpal tunnel in a bunch of phone-clutching gym class students?

Maybe with the help of Jake Weston, high school bad boy turned sexy good guy. When the school rumor mill sends Marley to the principal’s office to sign an ethics contract, the tattooed track coach, dog dad, and teacher of the year becomes her new fake boyfriend and alibi—for a price. The Deal: He’ll teach her how to coach if she teaches him how to be in a relationship.

Who knew a fake boyfriend could deliver such real orgasms? But it’s all temporary. The guy. The job. The team. There’s too much history. Rock bottom can’t turn into a foundation for happily ever after. Can it?

Warning: Story also includes a meet-puke, a bouffanted nemesis, a yard swan and donkey basketball, a teenage-orchestrated makeover, and a fake relationship that gets a little too real between the sheets. (Goodreads)

Sports was never on my radar until I discovered romance novels. This is a slow burn romance that takes the does he or does he not love her to a whole new level because said wall is a complete grump but needs his assistant to marry him so he can stay in the country.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me
by Mariana Zapata

Vanessa Mazur knows she’s doing the right thing. She shouldn’t feel bad for quitting. Being an assistant/housekeeper/fairy godmother to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door wanting her to come back, she’s beyond shocked.

For two years, the man known as The Wall of Winnipeg couldn’t find it in him to tell her good morning or congratulate her on her birthday. Now? He’s asking for the unthinkable.

What do you say to the man who is used to getting everything he wants? (Goodreads

Have you read any of the books on the list? What romance novels do you recommend?
