NetGalley November 2021

Total Books: 39
Backlogged: 14
Current Feedback: 69%
Goal: 80% (read 14 books)

I am participating in NetGalley November this year! I’d forgotten all about this readathon until I came across the post on Fi’s Bibliofiles. I have been feeling guilty about my backlog, some as far back as March, so this is the perfect readathon to whittle it down and bring up my feedback ratio.

The marathon was started by Emandherbooks and Lisa Lou from Tot and Tales. There are nine prompts, but I will focus on my backlog and see what fits the prompts along the way. Let’s see how the month goes! Wish me luck!

Reindeer Readathon 2020: Wrap Up

Started: December 1, 2020
Ended: December 31, 2020
Exchange: 8/10
Total points: 130/225

I started off strong, beginning my first book, The Impossible Girl, as soon as it hit midnight in my time zone. I was optimistic. I knew I was going to get this done! I was going to commit to my TBR. Unfortunately, I only kept to my TBR for that one day because I found Sleeper, and it spiraled from there. Do I have regrets? NEVER!!! (hahaha).

I tried my utmost to complete The Burning God and We Hunt The Flame. I successfully completed We Hunt the Flame but was unable to complete The Burning God and opted for a different book. Being on West Coast time, I completely forgot to turn in my points for Comet! ACK! I was unable to complete The Christmas Star (500+ pages), thus unable to get the extra points with Sleighing It despite reading Break Me with the hope that I’d complete all the prompts so that I’d be able to get points for it.

I had fun doing this and participated in the card exchange. The chat on Twitter was great! Participants were super supportive of one another and that helped me get through the prompts. Although I didn’t stick to my TBR, I read some good books.

THE FINAL LIST

I look forward to participating in Reindeer Readathon 2021. It will be here before I know it!

Reindeer Readathon 2020

This is my second readathon. WOOHOO!! I decided to participate after Kathryn at Kathryn Books posted about it. It sounded like it would be lots of fun! You can check her post (here) for more information. You can also check out Breakeven Books‘ vlog for the announcement (here). If you’re already participating, I’d love to hear about your TBR!

After participating in the Trope-ical Readathon, I learned that I am very much a mood reader. I moved around nearly half the books on my TBR, and then also switched out the books for ones I felt like reading at the moment. Now, this TBR feels more like a wish list than anything else. But, aren’t all TBR’s like that? (hahaha)

I’m quite proud that this is a list compiled of books that will help make my leaning tower of TBR a little less leaning instead of with random books I found that were interesting. But…we’ll see how long that lasts. I’ve already switched out two books since I first created this list, and I’m already eyeing alternates. Those alternates are looking mighty interesting… (I know. I’m pretty hopeless.)

My “final” list of books is below with each linked to Goodreads along with the prompt and point values. Check them out!

Dasher – 15

(What did you think I was going to say?)

Trope-ical Readathon: August 2020

I am participating in my first readathon. WOOHOO!! After contemplating this for a while, I decided I would take the plunge. I’m already reading romance novels so why not join in on the fun? The Trope-ical Readathon is cohosted by JenJenReviews, and I am looking forward to it. After deciding on my TBR, I am starting to feel like it might be an ambitious endeavor…but then again, the problem, has never been the reading. It’s always been about my TBR and commitment. A goal that isn’t written down is just a wish so here’s to accountability with this post! (hehehe…commitment is scary)

Does anyone else have this problem? I currently have a long list but when I go to pick a book to read, I usually end up picking something that was not on the list. It usually goes a little like this:

  1. And now, I shall check books off my TBR.
  2. Oh, wait! This book sounds interesting. This is the book I shall read next.
  3. Let me pretend it’s always been on my TBR so I can technically say I did read something from the list and check off #1.
  4. Repeat steaps 1-3.

I have to admit that a few…okay, fine, a lot…of these were never on my “official” TBR but they sounded so interesting I had to add them. Then I picked those that I saved on my Kindle app but just never got around to reading because I kept finding other stuff to read. BUT…you see how one of the common challenges says to pick a book you forgot about on your TBR? I at least know for sure that was on my TBR. See…I got this. I am totally trimming down my list of stuff to read (hehehe).

When I decided to participate, I decided to make a map…at 3AM. This is my second iteration of it because I had to switch some books out. The library gave me time frames of anywhere from ~3 weeks to ~10 weeks so I have 16 books and will grab whichever team challenge I can get my hands on first.

Also, I feel quite guilty so I have to make a confession about The Mermaid, The Witch, and The Sea. This was one I had to substitute in because the library said Tweet Cute would get to me in ~10 weeks. Because strange name is based on the names as nouns trope so I figured I could use Flora. The main character is named Flora and disguises herself as Florin. Flora is a noun, therefore satisfies strange names/names as nouns…I know. It’s a stretch. But it’s been on my TBR for at least a month and I really want to read it. Humor me please. Flora isn’t a strange name. Whew! I’m so happy I got that off my chest.

My final list of books are below and linked to their Goodreads pages. Check them out!
